Feeling depressed? Take this pill
Have no energy? Take this pill
Have no sex drive? Take this pill
And on and on and on. Most pharmaceutical pills that are prescribed have side effects that are worse than the original ailment. If you are depressed or having trouble sleeping, you can take a pill, but the side effects may include vomiting, nightmares, ulcers, high blood pressure, and thoughts of suicide. Not exactly what I call an even trade.

This simple solution takes minimal time, but it is very difficult to begin. You just have to dig in and go for it.

COLD WATER THERAPY!
Some may scoff at the idea of this therapeutic practice and say that it is nothing more than old wives tales and “broscience”, but I can assure you that the prescription is worth it’s weight in gold.
Cold water therapy is definitely nothing new, and something that has been talked about and received a lot of press as of late. Russian and Bulgarian athletes have been using cold water therapy since the beginning of time. It was not uncommon for them to go out to a frozen lake in the middle of bone shilling temperatures, chip the top layer of ice away, and jump in. This was done for many benefits including recovery from training and building their immune system from colds and other illnesses.
But do you, the 21st Century man, need to go out to a frozen lake in sub-zero temperatures to reap the benefits of cold water therapy?
In order to begin your badass body tempering therapy, all you need is the shower in your bathroom. If you have never undergone cold water therapy, it might be best to begin in the spring or early summer, but if you are total badass and up for doing things the hard way, start in the winter if you like.
So how do you begin? Here is what I am personally doing right now.
I get into the shower with normal warm water. This will help especially if you have never done this before. I rinse off and wash my body off with soap. After that is complete, I turn the hot water knob down about half way and rinse all of the soap off of me. After this is done, I turn the hot water knob all the way off and let the water run down me, focusing on my head, neck, and back. When you do this, it will be a shock to your system and will feel extremely cold.
The best thing about this is that after standing under the cold water for 30 seconds or so, the water will not feel cold any longer. After this happens, make sure to move around under the shower head, this will give you a little jolt in areas that have warmed up a little bit from the cold water having been focused on other areas of your body. Stand under the cold water for a couple of minutes, or as long as you can take it.
PRO TIP– If you are afraid to take the plunge and stand directly under the shower head, put a removable shower head in your bathroom and use it like a garden hose. When you are first starting out, this is a helpful little trick to get you adjusted.
The next thing I have been doing as of late comes after a weight training session. It is simply this- Step into the shower directly after a workout and turn on the cold water knob full bore from the get-go. Wash and rinse yourself off as you normally would, then get the hell out and get back to ass kicking. It should take 3-5 minutes tops.
Now, where do you go from here?
The sky is the limit. After practicing this therapy in the shower during the summer, continue it into winter. You can also continue your training by taking baths full of ice water and jumping into pools, rivers, and lakes in cold weather temperatures. You are only limited by your imagination and will to persist.
