The Cornerstone of Strength

By now I am sure that you have noticed a theme of this website. If you have read the past articles of The Pride, you might get the idea that I am a little bit of a fan of strength. Let me put all questions and assumptions to rest right now. There is one thing that I can tell you about strength.

I AM OBSESSED WITH STRENGTH!!

Now that we have gotten that out of the way, it is time for me to tell you how to get it. I am going to tell you the one secret ingredient that you must use to gain strength. Not just physical strength, but strength in every aspect of life as I have spoken about before. If you need a refresher course, check it outĀ hereĀ .

In order to obtain all levels of strength in all of your life, it comes down to one thing. You must be prepared to be uncomfortable. You must be willing to get outside of your comfort zone.

If you want to become physically stronger, lifting heavier weights and sometimes forcing yourself into the gym whether you want to or not is uncomfortable.

If you are trying to lose weight you must eat less than you are accustomed to and eat the right healthy foods. If you have not done this before or are forcing yourself to do it again, it is going to be uncomfortable.

If you are striving to get out of debt you are going to have to teach yourself to live on less than you earn and hammer your debt into the ground. It will be uncomfortable.

If you wish to start a business to begin living life on your own terms and make a living for yourself you must learn new skills which will all be uncomfortable.

The person of comfort and constant stability is a person of weakness. Weak people will never put themselves on the line, never learn new skills, and never succeed at anything. Weak people crack at the first sign of discomfort or unknown territory. They outsource everything because they lack the resolve to learn a new skill or are just too lazy to do things for themselves.

The strong person on the other hand will go out of their way to look for situations out of their comfort zone and jump in head first. Putting it all on the line and taking calculated risks is the thrill seeking strong person. Obtaining the most skills, the most wealth, the most successful businesses, and pushing the boundaries of their mind and bodies are the way of the strong.

If there are areas in life that you would like to improve on and you would like to learn to get out of your comfort zone and do new things, here is another little secret. Nothing is hard forever. It may seem daunting and intimidating at first, but the more you do it, the more you learn, and the better you get, everything that once seemed hard becomes easy.

As an example, this website is one example of something that was once hard that is now easy. A while back I started reading about building a website, how to model it, how to set it up, what programs to use, etc. I had absolutely no idea about starting and building a website. I knew nothing about domain names, hosting, WordPress, plugins, themes, formats, coding, linking text and other sites, none of it.

As I went along, it was difficult, but I kept going and now it seems easy. If I were to start from scratch right now, I could probably set up a website in a couple of hours or less. Designing websites is actually a potentially lucrative hustle to get into.

In the end, we should all strive to gain more and more strength. Look for ways in every day life to get outside of your comfort zone. If something doesn’t go according to plan, stop bitching and complaining and figure out how to get the job done. It may seem hard at first, but will quickly become easy. Things will begin to become so easy that you may slap yourself on the forehead asking yourself why you did not do that sooner, because it was much easier than you expected. Even if it was difficult, you will look back and be satisfied with a job well done and have a great sense of accomplishment because the most difficult things are the most rewarding.

Rise up and stay strong!

  1. Jeff great post!

Strength is something that is lacking these days. People noww do not have the thresh hold to endure learning somdthing new. I know in my field of work I see it all the time! They cannot figure out simple computer problems like copy and paste to emails! What gets me is that they do not even bother to figure it out even though all they have to do is use Google.

Instead they drop the issue on my lap to figure it out! It pisses me off every time! Simple shit like that shows how much strength they have if any! Weak minded people!q

    1. Jose,

The funny thing is that it is so easy to figure things out these days. Anything you want to know is a blog post, article, or Youtube video away. When I was younger, we did not have these resources but we always had the fortitude to figure things out for ourselves. Now that the information is at the tip of everyone’s fingertips, they look for the easy way out and instantly want to outsource the challenge to someone else.

      1. That is true no one wants to go through the fire to become successful. They are afraid of the pain and sacrifices they will have to go through and in their mind its too much to bare. Its easier to have someone else do it for them not knowing that earning your bones is what being free is all about!

        great post
